Wet Sounds Amp Buyer's Guide
Wet Sounds specializes in marine grade audio and Wet Sounds amplifiers are all built to withstand the elements while also powering your speakers with tons of raw, efficient power from their Class-D amplifiers. Wet Sounds have 4 different amplifier lines, Sinister, SYN-DX, HTX, and STX Micro. The part numbers dont really explain the power output the same way that many other amplifiers do, so we created this buyer's guide to break down each series, then also break the amplifiers down by the number of channels. This should help you easily see the difference between the different amplifiers and also find an amplifier that will match your speaker's power handling so that you can make an informed decision on the best Wet Sounds amp for your boat, UTV, or RV.
Sinister
The Wet Sounds Sinister amps are their top of the line marine amplifiers. The Sinister amps offer maximum output and are able to do so thanks to the Wet Sounds MAXED power supply. The MAXED power supply offers unrivaled, Class-D efficiency. The efficiency allows these amps to put out more power while drawing less current and thus generating less heat. This ensures that not only are you getting more power, but also more reliability. If you are out on the water, chances are it is a warm day. You want to play your music as loud as you want, for as long as you want without worrying about your equipment over heating. The Wet Sounds Sinister amplifiers do that better than any other amps out there.

SYN-DX
The Wet Sounds SYN-DX amps is a step down from Sinister, but the SYN-DX amplifiers are also more affordable. The SYN-DX amps have super efficient, Class-D power supplies and work well with all Wet Sounds products. The SYN-DX does not have the MAXED power supply that the Sinister amps have and therefore they don't have as much power output, but they will still provide plenty of power for most boats. The SYN-DX amps are for those that want really, really good, but you don't necssarily want or need to pay up for the absolute best with the Sinister. When really good is good enough, SYN-DX is the choice.

HTX
The Wet Sounds HTX amplifiers deliver the marine grade performance and reliability you expect from Wet Sounds at a more affordable price point. The HTX amplifiers have Class-D circuitry and will withstand the elements just like SYN-DX and Sinister, but the power output is not as high for each configuration. Power is power is power, the SYN-DX and Sinister are more efficient and have better thermal management, which in turn allows them to put out more power in a similar sized package. These amplifiers are really popular as you still get Wet Sounds performance in a full sized amplifier that will withstand whatever mother nature can throw at it.

Breakdown By the Number of Channels.
Now that we gave you the specs for the power output of each series of amplifiers, we will make it easy to compare them for your application. If you need a 4 channel amplifier, instead of scrolling, this information will allow you to easily compare Sinister, SYN-DX, HTX, and STX Micro side by side.
Wet Sounds Monoblock Amplifiers
Wet Sounds monoblock amplifiers are usually used to power subwoofers. Since bass does not have separate left and right channels, we don't need to worry about stereo. A monoblock amplifier will deliver tons of raw power so that we can hear and feel the bass while out on the water, in the sand, or on the trail.SDX2500

Wet Sounds 4 Channel Amplifiers
Wet Sounds 4 channel amplifiers are typically used to power 4 speakers. You can also wire 8 speakers at 2 ohms, or bridge most of them for power more for Wet Sounds REV tower speakers. A cost effective way to power a pair of REV 10 tower speakers is the bridge the Wet Sounds HTX-4 or STX-MICRO 4. The SDX4 puts out serious power at 4 ohms and is ideal for powering REVO CX-10 speakers. The SYN-DX4 matches up perfectly with the REVO 8's and the ICON 8 tower speakers. The HTX-4
matches up perfectly to power 4 REVO 6 speakers and the STX-MICRO-4 is perfect if you are tight on space but want the performance and reliability you get with a Wet Sounds amp.

Wet Sounds 6 Channel Amplifiers
Wet Sounds 6 channel amplifiers are very versatile and let you power more than 4 speakers off of a single amplifier. This allows you to run the speakers to a 4 ohm load for each channel and keep both power consumption and heat generation lower than if you ran 6 speakers off of a 4 channel amplifier. Wet Sounds offers 3 different series of 6 channel amplifiers, Sinister, SYN-DX, and HTX. The Sinister and HTX, 6 channel amplifiers have consitent output across all 6 channel while the SYN-DX outputs more power on channel 5 and 6. The SYN-DX amp is perfect for powering 4 hull speakers and a pair of tower speakers, or if you have 4, 6.5" speakers and 2, 8" speakers, you can give the 8" more power because they can handle it. Conclusion
With Wet Sounds amplifiers, you get what you pay for. The Sinister models have more output than SYN-DX, which have more output than HTX, which have more output than STX-MICRO. If you have the money and you just want the best, go with the Sinister amps and don't look back. The HTX are the most popular because of the output and the price point. I really like the SYN-DX2.3 HP if you need to power REV 8 or REV 10 tower speakers. Remember that it's going to be better to have more power and have the gain at 1/2 or 3/4 than to have your amplifier's gains maxed out all the time. Sometimes it might be easier to cry once and do it right the first time.
