Kicker 6.5" Marine Speakers
Kicker offers two different levels of 6.5 inch speakers. The KM65 is Kicker's top of the line marine speaker and the KM604 is their economy marine speaker. The differences between these two 6.5 Kicker marine speakers is the tweeter, the grille, and the size of the speaker. The KM604 is a 6" speaker that fits in a 6.5" opening. The grille on the KM604 is molded into the speaker frame itself and is not removable. Finally, the KM604 uses a PEI dome tweeter. The KM65 uses a titanium tweeter which is much more durable material to withstand the elements and it is going to play brighter and louder to cut through wind, water, and engine noise. The grilles that come on the KM65 are removable and when you order a pair of speakers, you get both the white grilles and the charcoal grilles included. The KM65 is a true 6.5 inch marine speaker and comes in a beauty box like you would expect from most high quality speakers. The KM604 speakers come bulk packed do not include a nice box. Instead, it is a speakers in a poly bag with brown cardboard to protect it.
Kicker 8" Marine Speakers
The Kicker 8" marine speakers might be the best value among all marine speakers. With these Kicker marine speakers, you get the larger 8 cone, they come with a 1" titanium speakers, and they come with RGB LEDs integrated into the speaker. Like the 6.5" model, the Kicker 8 inch speakers come with both charcoal and white speaker grilles that allow you to select which color you want once you have the speakers. The power handling on the KM84L is rated at 150 watts RMS. This means you can virtually give these speakers as much power as you want from most marine amplifiers. There are some marine amps that are specifically designed for horn tweeter tower speakers that might be too much for these speakers, but most marine full range amplifiers are putting out 150 watts RMS. The 1" titanium tweeter gives you the bright crisp highs you want in a marine environment at an affordable price point. The Wet Sounds REVO 8 spekaers use the same tweeter material, have the same size tweeter, yet they cost significantly more. When you look at power handling, tweeter size, tweeter material, and price, the 8 inch Kicker marine speakers are an amazing value for your marine stereo system.

The 6.5" and 8" Kicker marine speakers are available as tower speakers. The speakers are loaded in enclosures and there are two different styles. The first is a traditional, bar mounted clamp that uses stainless steel swivel clamps and mounts to tubing ranging from 1.5" to 3.25" in diameter. The second style is a flat mount version that is designed for surface mounting applications where you may want a tower speaker but you don't have a bar for the swivel clamps. If you opt for the swivel clamp version, the clamp will swivel without the need for a tool and locks in place so that you can set and change the speaker angle as you wish.
Since the tower speakers are mounted up high, this gives you better distance and broadcasting when you are towing someone, or if you dock your boat and want to use it as your stereo system while on land. The coaxial Kicker tower speakers come with white or charcoal, but unlike the standard speakers, both color options are not included. You must select charcoal or white. The 6.5" models are available as a pair of single or double enclosures. The 8" models are only as a pair of single speaker enclosures. With a pair of single enclosures, you get 2 enclosures as you might expect. With the 6.5" double enclosures you get a pair of double speaker enclosures, 2 enclosures, 4 total speakers. All Kicker tower speaker enclosures come with RGB LEDs integrated into the speakers and are designed to withstand the marine environment.
Horn Tweeter Kicker Tower Speakers
The horn tweeter Kicker tower speakers are designed to play loud and give you maximum distance. Instead of using a standard, coaxial marine speaker, the horn tweeter tower speakers use a horn loaded compression driver that is super efficient, can handle more power, and delivers insane volume and distance. These tower speakers are for those that like it loud and want to ensure that the people they are towing can hear the music loud and crystal clear when behind the boat. Or, you might be one of those people that really loves loud music and you want it LOUD. We are okay with this too. The horn tweeter tower speakers come in 9" and 11" models. The 11 inch Kicker tower speakers are the largest ones we offer and they definitely deliver. Both the 9 inch and 11 inch models come in your choice of charocal or white and RGB LEDs are included. They feature stainless steel swivel clamps with cam locks and a through-clamp wiring system. The swivel clamps allow for near 360 degree rotation and the cam lock system allows you to quickly and easily disconnect the speakers at night or if you plan on storing your boat and want to ensure that your tower speakers stay safe. If you want big, bold, loud speakers, the Kicker 9 inch and 11 inch tower speakers offer superior value comparied to other horn tweeter tower speakers.
What do you use to control the LEDs
With the for the Kicker marine speakers with RGB LEDs, you have two options for power. You can wire the LEDs to a static color, or you can use the Kicker KMLC, RGB LED controller. With the Kicker RGB LED controller, you wire all 4 LED color to the controller and the remote that comes with the controller will allow you to select between 20 different colors and 19 different modes. This will let you change colors quickly and easily and also have the lights in your speakers flash and switch between various colors at various rates.
Which 6.5 Kicker speakers do you recommend, KM65 or KM604?
If you are deciding between the Kicker KM65 or KM604 6.5" speakers, it will come down to budget, performance, and how long you want them to last. If you don't have an amplifier, you should get the KM604. If you have an amplifier, it will comes down to sound quality and how long you want them to last. The KM604 are true marine speakers and you get Kicker performance, but you are getting what you pay for. Will they sound as good as the KM65? No, but if you plan on selling the boat, you can still say that the boat has Kicker speakers. If you want RGB LEDs, go with the KM65 because the KM604WL is only available with blue LEDs.
Do Kicker marine speakers come with grilles?
The 6.5" and 8" Kicker marine speakers come with both white and charcoal grilles included. You do not need to select a grille color at the time of purchase.
Which amplifier do you recommend to power Kicker marine speakers?
If you are powering 6.5" or 8" Kicker marine speakers, you should use the KX400.4 if you are powering only 4 speakers. If you are powering 4 Kicker marine speakers and an amplifier, go with the KXMA800.5. If you have a big stereo system, you can use the KXMA800.8 to power 8 speakers at a 4 ohm load or 16 speakers at a 2 ohm load.
