When it comes to soundbars for your boat or UTV, there are many different options, many different brands, and several different styles. Do you want a built-in amplifier? Do you want to control the unit on the unit itself or do you want a separate controller? Are you mounting it to a bar or to a flat surface? We will break down the offering to give you as much information on marine soundbars so that you can make an educated and informed decision for which one is best for you,
The Wet Sounds Stealth Ultra HD is the top of the line soundbar from Wet Sounds and comes with a built-in amplifier, Bluetooth streaming, and the controller is located on the soundbar itself. This type of application is perfect if you want an easy-to-install, stand alone unit that is easily accessible. You will have to turn the sound bar on and off on the soundbar itself so you want it close and within reach.
The Wet Sounds Surge soundbars have the same built-in amplifier as the Ultra HD, but they do not include a remote control, it does not have Bluetooth built-in, and the Surge does not have the controls located on the soundbar itself. Instead, you need to use a separate unit for Bluetooth, auxiliary, volume control, and changing tracks. That separate unit can be a Wet Sounds Bluetooth receiver such as WW-BT-RS, WW-BT-VC, or a marine head unit like the WS-MC-1, or a DIN size head unit from Kenwood or the likes.
Wet Sounds Core
The Wet Sounds Core soundbars do not have an amplifier built-in, Bluetooth, or a controller. The Wet Sounds Core soundbars require a separate controller or head unit to play music and they also need a separate amplifier as a power source. Think of the Wet Sounds Core soundbar like a pair of wide, low-profile tower speakers. You still need a head unit, you still need an amplifier.
The Memphis 35" sound bar is similar in size to the Wet Sounds products and functions more like the Ultra HD than the Surge. The Memphis sound bar has power, Bluetooth, and controls built into the soundbar itself. You will want to make sure that the sound bar is relatively close so that you can turn it on within an arm's reach.
The Memphis 28" powersports sound bar is a little bit different than the others. This sound bar uses 6.5" speakers instead of 4" speakers like all of the other units. In addition, the Memphis 28" soundbar has full RGB LEDs integrated into the speakers and you can control the unit with an app on your phone. This allows you to stream AM/FM. In addition, this 28" soundbar has 6 channel pre-outs allowing you to add additional speakers and a subwoofer while also having control over those other components. You have a front and rear fader, you can control the LEDs, and you can control the subwoofer level. It is essentially a full digital media receiver that is built into the soundbar, but you control it via an app on your phone. In addition to the app control, the soundbar also has controls on the soundbar itself to give you the best of both wordls.

The best marine soundbar is the Wet Sounds Surge. It comes with a built-in amplifier for easy, 3 wire, power connection. If you are mounting it up top on your boat, you don't want to turn around to change songs, turn it up, turn it down, turn it on, turn it off, etc. Yes the Ultra HD comes with a remote, but an unexpected bump and that remote can go flying. With the Wet Sounds Surge, connect it to your head unit or Bluetooth controller and now you can turn the soundbar on from your dash, change songs, turn it up, or turn it down without having to turn around and reach. The price point between the Ultra and Surge + Bluetooth controller is the same, I just like the functionality of the Bluetooth controller better. From a performance standpoint, the Wet Sounds products are as solid as they come. They are ridiculously loud. Wet Sounds has a patent on the marine sound bar, you have the most mounting options, it just makes too much sense. The Wet Sounds Surge can be mounted to a flat surface with the hardware that is included or you can purchase the slider hardware and brackets to install it to most round or square tubes. The only drawback with the Surge is that it is only offered in Black, but we feel that the functionality is most important.
